Recently, I conducted a survey at work where I asked others what their thoughts were on what a pedophile is and for the most part the responses were in harmony with one another. Some said they are possessed by demons while others said they were mentally sick people who prey on young children.

For many, a pedophile is one who is sick in the mind, and I agree with that assessment. What hurts me about this is how these "sick" people are treated in our society. I know this may raise some eyebrows and draw the ire of some, but it should not. We must not forget that it was the sick Christ came for. For the most part, people will "tolerate" a murderer, liar or thief, but a pedophile--no mercy! Even when they are imprisoned, they have to be separated from the general population or else their lives will be in danger.

Sexual perversion is an issue that has run rampant in the Church, most notably the Catholic Church; and this has given many of those on the outside the occasion to blaspheme God. International Bible Teacher, Derek Prince once said "It is practiced by Christians who are church members, especially the abuse of young boys and girls."

Recently, God Over Porn conducted a survey (September, 2015) of over 1300 Christian men and women, where 7% of them confessed to viewing child pornography, while 9% disclosed being a victim to it. This is an issue that must be addressed if we desire true healing.

As the Body of Christ, we are not perfect. We all fall short. But we cannot expect to progress in our fellowship with the Lord when we have sins we are unwilling to confess in our lives. I'm not saying tell the world about the issues we face, but what I am saying is we must surround ourselves with brethren we can trust and confide in so we can receive soul healing that can only come from knowing Jesus.

"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick." (Luke 5:31)

Ariel Castro was convicted of kidnapping and three counts of rape and was sentenced to life plus 1,000 years without the chance of parole. When he stood before the judge, he said, "I am not a monster, I am sick! I believe I am addicted to porn to the point
that it makes me impulsive and I just don't realize that what I am doing is wrong."

Those who despise Christ and feel like there is no need for Him, reject His call to heal their sick souls. It is people like Ariel Castro, who realize they are indeed sick, that Christ came for. Unfortunately, Ariel ended his life by hanging himself in his cell. Suicide is a tragedy that occurs far too often. The shame of our sins are unbearable when we try to manage them ourselves, but when we give them to Jesus, He sets us free from its suffocating grip and removes them from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).

To the pedophile, there is hope for you. His name is Jesus. You do not have to be defined by the sins of your past, in Christ you can be made new. In Christ you are the Beloved of the Lord. Saints, let us pray for those enslaved by this way of life that God will deliver them from the power of darkness. Let us remember that our fight is not against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers. Let us love them with the love of Christ. In Jesus' name!
